Leaders across political spectrum mourn Dr Mustafa Kamal’s demise

Srinagar, July 14: Condolences continued to pour in on Tuesday from political leaders across party lines following the demise of senior National Conference (NC) leader and former minister Dr Sheikh Mustafa Kamal, who was remembered for his decades-long public service and contribution to Jammu and Kashmir’s political landscape. CPI(M) leader and MLA Kulgam M Y Tarigami described Dr Kamal as a forthright leader who remained actively engaged in public affairs for decades. Recalling his long association with him, Tarigami said his passing marked the end of a significant political journey and conveyed condolences to Dr Farooq Abdullah, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and the bereaved family. Apni Party president Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari termed Dr Kamal’s death a great loss to Jammu and Kashmir, describing him as a dignified and distinguished political leader who served the people with commitment. He prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul and expressed sympathy with the bereaved family. National Conference MP Mian Altaf Ahmad also expressed grief, describing Dr Kamal as a stalwart of Jammu and Kashmir’s political landscape and a soft-spoken, accessible and grassroots-oriented leader. He extended condolences to Dr Farooq Abdullah, Omar Abdullah and the Abdullah family. Mirwaiz Molvi Umar Farooq expressed sorrow over the veteran leader’s demise, offering prayers for the departed soul and extending condolences to the bereaved family. People’s Democratic Front (PDF) president Hakeem Mohammad Yaseen described Dr Kamal as a seasoned politician who remained committed to public service and played a significant role in the political landscape of Jammu and Kashmir for decades. He conveyed sympathies to the Abdullah family, the National Conference leadership and workers. Minister Satish Sharma said Dr Kamal dedicated decades to public service and democratic values, adding that his contribution to Jammu and Kashmir’s political discourse and commitment to public welfare would be remembered for years. Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly Speaker Abdul Rahim Rather described Dr Kamal as a veteran political leader, parliamentarian and administrator who devoted his life to public service. He said his commitment to inclusive development and the welfare of the underprivileged would remain part of his enduring legacy. NC Additional General Secretary Choudhary Mohammad Ramzan termed Dr Kamal’s demise a personal and irreparable loss, recalling his years of association with him in government. He described the late leader as humble, compassionate and dedicated to public service, saying his wisdom, integrity and commitment would continue to inspire generations of National Conference workers.
