Digging beneath Luxor’s rubble, archaeologists found 10 painted coffins and more than 30 mummified cats, plus the tomb of a previously undocumented priest

Archaeologists unearthed ten painted wooden coffins and over thirty mummified cats. These significant discoveries were found beneath rubble at Luxor’s Dra Abu el-Naga necropolis. The coffins date from the 18th Dynasty and Egypt’s Late Period. A previously unknown priest’s tomb, Aa-Shefi-Nakhtou, was also uncovered. These findings offer insights into ancient Egyptian religious and funerary traditions.
