The court directed the Hyderabad Police Commissioner to arrest him and produce him before the court at 10.30 am on Friday, as reported by TOI. Justice Nagesh Bheemapaka passed the order on July 10. He directed the Police Commissioner to arrest Sultania “from wherever he is found” and produce him before the court. The judge said Sultania could secure bail by furnishing a personal bond of ₹5,000. He must also give an undertaking to appear before the court and continue attending the proceedings until further orders.

Petitioner alleges wilful disobedience of 2024 order

The court passed the directions while hearing a contempt petition filed by former Secunderabad Cantonment Board member J. Ramakrishna. He alleged that Sultania wilfully disobeyed a High Court order issued in 2024. The High Court had directed the Telangana government to consider Ramakrishna’s representation. It also asked the government to remit the pending surcharge on stamp duty collected from the Secunderabad Cantonment Board. Ramakrishna filed the contempt petition in March 2026, alleging that the authorities had failed to comply with the order.

Court rejects plea for more time

The court had earlier issued a contempt notice to Sultania and asked him to file a counter-affidavit. It also directed him to appear in person if he failed to submit the counter. Justice Bheemapaka noted that Sultania neither filed a counter-affidavit nor appeared before the court through counsel. The judge then directed him to appear on the next hearing date. When the case came up again on July 10, the government counsel sought more time to file the counter-affidavit. The court noted that no counter-affidavit had been filed. It also observed that Sultania had not filed any application seeking exemption from personal appearance. The judge rejected the request for more time. He then issued a bailable warrant and directed the Hyderabad Police Commissioner to execute it. The court asked the Commissioner to return the warrant, preferably before August 7, along with a detailed report on its execution or the reasons for any non-execution. ]]>
