No electricity, no diesel: Sonam Wangchuk’s invented tent can stay warm at -14 degrees. How does it work?

Sonam Wangchuk’s innovative tent was designed to stay warm even when temperatures outside dropped to -14°C. In 2021, he said it could reach 15°C inside at night by capturing sunlight through a south-facing polycarbonate chamber and retaining heat with insulation and a wind-cheater covering. Its portable components could be carried to high-altitude locations. The design aimed to reduce kerosene use and pollution. Wangchuk, an education reformer and innovator, is also known for developing ice stupas in Ladakh.
