Breaking News: STF Probes Alleged Pakistan-Linked Plot to Disrupt Jantar Mantar Protest

A major security investigation is underway after the West Bengal Special Task Force (STF) claimed to have uncovered an alleged Pakistan-linked conspiracy aimed at exploiting the recent student protest at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar. According to STF officials, arrested suspect Hakim Mondal allegedly disclosed during interrogation that he was instructed by handlers with suspected links to Pakistan to procure police uniforms and use them to create unrest during the demonstration. Investigators allege that the suspected plan involved provoking violence, vandalism, and panic by infiltrating the protest while disguised as police personnel. STF officials also said they are examining conversations recovered from the accused’s electronic devices to determine the exact nature of the alleged conspiracy and whether it progressed beyond the planning stage. Hakim Mondal was recently arrested in West Bengal’s Purba Bardhaman district, while another accused, Arpita Sarkar, has also been taken into custody. STF claims the investigation has revealed discussions about targeting prominent political figures and exploring honey-trap operations, though officials said these allegations remain under investigation. Authorities are also examining alleged communications with foreign phone numbers, including those bearing Pakistan’s +92 country code, as part of the probe. Delhi Police’s anti-terror unit is reportedly coordinating with the West Bengal STF to verify whether any associates of the accused were present during the Jantar Mantar protest or attempted to execute any part of the alleged plan. Officials emphasized that the investigation is ongoing and that all evidence, including digital communications, is being thoroughly examined. No court has yet established the allegations, and further findings are expected as the probe progresses.
