India’s Largest PM MITRA Park Takes Shape in Madhya Pradesh, Set to Transform Indore into a Global Textile Hub

Madhya Pradesh is witnessing a major industrial transformation with the rapid development of the country’s largest PM MITRA (PM Mega Integrated Textile Region and Apparel) Park . Located in Bhainsola village of Badnawar tehsil, Dhar district , the mega textile park is being developed on a war footing and is expected to redefine the textile and apparel industry in central India. Spread across approximately 2,156 acres , the ambitious project is designed to strengthen the entire textile value chain—from spinning, weaving, and processing to garment manufacturing and exports. Once operational, the park is expected to significantly boost the economies of Dhar, Indore, and the entire Malwa-Nimar region, while positioning Indore as one of India’s leading global textile and apparel hubs. ₹2,063 Crore Project Attracts Massive Investment Being developed at an estimated cost of ₹2,063 crore , the PM MITRA Park has already generated tremendous interest from the industrial sector. According to officials, the state government has received investment proposals worth more than ₹20,000 crore from several leading textile and apparel companies. The land allotment process is progressing rapidly. Two phases have already been completed, with nearly 1,100 acres allocated to investors. The administration is now preparing to launch the third phase of land allotment to accommodate growing demand from industries. Over 46,000 Employment Opportunities One of the biggest highlights of the project is its employment potential. Once fully operational, the park is expected to create more than 46,000 direct and indirect jobs , providing significant employment opportunities for skilled professionals, engineers, technicians, garment workers, and local youth. The project is also expected to strengthen the MSME ecosystem by creating opportunities for logistics companies, packaging units, transport operators, warehousing businesses, and ancillary industries. World-Class Infrastructure Under Development Infrastructure development inside the park is progressing at a fast pace. The external power infrastructure has already been completed, and the project has received the required electricity distribution licence to ensure uninterrupted power supply for industries. Construction of internal roads, drainage systems, water supply networks, and other civic infrastructure is currently in its final stages. The park has been designed as a modern industrial township with plug-and-play facilities that will enable companies to begin operations quickly. Eco-Friendly and Sustainable Textile Manufacturing Environmental sustainability is a major focus of the PM MITRA Park. Advanced automatic wastewater treatment and recycling plants are being installed to treat chemical and industrial effluents generated by textile factories. These facilities will ensure that only properly treated water is discharged into nearby rivers, reducing pollution and promoting environmentally responsible manufacturing. The park is also expected to incorporate sustainable infrastructure and efficient resource management practices in line with modern industrial standards. Common Facility Centre and International Quality Testing To improve competitiveness and reduce operational costs, the park will feature a Common Facility Centre (CFC) equipped with advanced and expensive machinery that can be shared by all industries operating within the park. In addition, an international-standard quality testing laboratory is being established to help manufacturers ensure that garments and textile products meet global quality and export standards. This will make it easier for companies to access international markets. Incubation Centre to Support Startups The PM MITRA Park will also encourage innovation by establishing a dedicated Incubation Centre for startups in the textile, apparel, and fashion sectors. The centre will provide entrepreneurs with office space, high-speed internet, mentoring from industry experts, technical guidance, and business support services. This initiative aims to help young innovators convert their ideas into successful businesses while promoting entrepreneurship in the region. Strengthening India’s Textile Industry The PM MITRA scheme has been launched by the Government of India to develop world-class integrated textile parks with modern infrastructure and world-class logistics. By bringing the complete textile value chain together in one location, the initiative is expected to reduce production costs, improve efficiency, increase exports, and attract both domestic and foreign investment. The Dhar PM MITRA Park is poised to become one of India’s most important textile manufacturing destinations, strengthening the country’s position in the global textile market while driving industrial growth and employment in Madhya Pradesh for years to come.
