Two workers killed after under-construction septic tank collapses in Bhubaneswar

A tragic accident claimed the lives of two workers in Bhubaneswar after an under-construction septic tank collapsed in the BJB Nagar area on Saturday. The workers reportedly fell into the septic tank when the structure gave way, leading to their deaths. The incident occurred at an under-construction site in BJB Nagar, triggering panic in the locality. Following the collapse, the two workers fell into the septic tank. They were subsequently rescued and rushed for medical attention. Two Workers Declared Dead The injured workers were taken to Capital Hospital for treatment. However, after examination, doctors declared both of them dead. The incident has cast a shadow over the construction site and left local residents shocked. Meanwhile, in another incident reported from Odisha’s Kalahandi, at least six persons died due to suspected asphyxiation while removing centring from an under-construction septic tank at Gaud Karlakhunta village under M. Rampur area on May 26, 2026. The deceased included three masons, one labourer, the owner of the house, and his son. Another worker was critically injured in the incident and has been admitted to the hospital for treatment.
